Cat Deeley Biography
Cat was born Catherine Elizabeth Deeley on October 23rd 1976 in Sutton Coldfield England
She was first spotted in the “Clothes Show Live” modelling competition at the age of 14.Cat signed to Storm modelling agency after she finished her A levels where she added 4 A levels to her 9 GCSE A grades.
After modelling for a few years Cat sent an audition tape to MTV UK and landed the job as presenter of “MTV Amour” and went on to present “Stylissimo”, “Hitlist UK” and “MTV Select”.
Cat proved to be one of MTV’s most popular VJ’s and landed the job as co-host on ITV1’s Saturday morning kids show “SM:TV Live” with its sister show, the weekly music show “CD:UK”.
“SMTV Live” was a phenomenal success with ratings peaking at over 2 million viewers which was unheard of for a kids show in the UK and the show won many awards including a British Comedy award and a BAFTA for Cat in 2002.Cat left “SMTV” after over 3 and a half years but continued to host “CDUK” allowing her to move into more grown up television with BBC1’s “Fame Academy” and ITV1’s “Stars in their Eyes Kids”.
Cat co- hosted 2 series of “Fame Academy” and 2 celebrity versions called “Comic Relief does Fame Academy” with Patrick Kielty and the show had audience figures peaking 10 million and helped raise over a million pounds for charity.
Cat took over full presenting duties on “Stars in their Eyes” replacing Matthew Kelly in 2004.Doing both the grown up version of “Stars in their Eyes” and “Stars in their Eyes Kids” as well as Celebrity and Family spin off’s.
Cat left MTV in 2002 and “CDUK” in March 2005 and in between her busy schedule Cat presented Travel series “Roadtripping” with her best friend Edith Bowman for the BBC aswell as a Radio show together on Capital Radio for 2 years.
She also found time to present “The V Festival” and “Top Ten teen idols” for Channel 4,”Record of the Year” 2003 and 2004 and has made cameo acting roles on UK teen Soap “Hollyoaks”, comedy shows “Happiness” and “Little Britain” and animated movie blockbuster “Robots”
Miss Deeley has also hosted major ceremonies including the 75th Royal Variety show,the TV hits awards, Party in the Park,The Brits and Party at the Tower in 2006 by special request from Prince Charles.
Cat’s proudest moment was when she was appointed Patron of London’s Great Ormand Street Hospital in July 2003 where she is heavily involved in helping raise awareness and funds for the children’s charity.
In 2006 Cat moved to America after being signed up to present the 2nd season of “So you think you can Dance” for Fox. Cat and the show have been a huge success being broadcast in UK, Canada, Australia and Cat will return as host for season 3 when it starts in 2007.
Cat has also appeared as a guest on Tonight with Jay Leno and also appeared as a correspondent for the Leno Show. She has recently landed a weekly showbiz reporters job on abc’s Good Morning America.
